How to write better prompts

A prompt is the data (text, image, speech etc) you provide to the AI model.
Writing better prompts is the art and science of structuring prompts to guide AI models like ChatGPT, towards generating the desired responses.
When using ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or any other Large Language Model to perform tasks, there are a few strategies you can use to get the best response from the AI model.
Let look at some of these strategies:
1. Set clear goals for the model and define the model persona. When prompting an AI model like ChatGPT, the most important component of your prompt is the goal.
● What do you want the model to achieve?
For example:
“You are a digital marketing expert. Your objective is to help me create a plan to increase brand awareness for my clothing line.” 📈👔
2. You can provide step-by-step instructions on how you want the model to perform the task.
e.g.
“You are a digital marketing expert. Your objective is to help me create a plan to increase brand awareness for my clothing line.
First, identify the top 3 channels to increase brand awareness.
Then, suggest content ideas.
Lastly, explain in 2 sentences how I can optimize reach for each recommended channel.”
3. Providing context. Context is any information that the AI model needs to access in order to complete the task.
For example:
If you have the marketing plan of a top fashion line in pdf format, you can upload it to the model and ask the model to reference the document while creating a marketing plan for your own brand. In this case, context is the pdf document you provide to the AI.
💡 Bonus Strategy
Ask the model to explain its reasoning behind its response. Asking the model to explain its thought process generally increases the quality of its response.
For Example:
“You are a digital marketing expert. Your objective is to help me create a plan to increase brand awareness for my clothing line.
First, identify the top 3 channels to increase brand awareness. Then, suggest content ideas.
Lastly, explain in 2 sentences how I can optimize reach for each recommended channel.
Summarize your thought process at the end.”
